Upcycled Woolly Goodness

This started out life as a holey XXL mens sweater from the Goodwill. I finally got round to hacking it into bits and it became some cozy woolly trousers for Lula. Somehow I misplaced my favorite pants pattern. I ended up retracing it from the original and forgot that I had altered the pattern somewhat to fit her skinny, non diapered bottom. This is the reason for the hugeness in the front.

I'm so pleased that I was able to finally do some lettuce edging. Pleased as punch, actually. I also loved working with the wool. I see a new crafting addiction starting...

Watch Out -- I'm Getting Serious

Rest assured it won't last.

Here are a few thoughts I jotted down yesterday after watching the inauguration.

I just got out of bed. The girls and I retired there promptly at 12:00 noon to watch the inauguration of Barack Obama. Even the dog kept up company.

Things I will remember about today:

1. It snowed here in Rock Hill, SC. Granted an event not quite as rare as a black man becoming President of the United States of America, but still up there.

2. I nursed my two year old through the entire swearing in ceremony, and we all lived to tell the tale.

3. Ella was just as snuggled up to the dog as I was to Lucy.

4. It was warm under the covers with the girls.

5. Ella was more affected by the melting of our sprinkling of snow that she was this amazing moment in history. I'm so glad that she's still my sweet kid.

Lynne's New Keychain!!

Well....after numerous attempts over the years to master something other than a single long chain, well, or the Pee Pee Beanie of a couple of years ago [shudder], I finally decided that the only logical way to learn crochet was to pick up the phone and call Lynne. I figured if she could teach me how to wrap my baby via speaker phone then single crochet would be a breeze.

And that's why this lovely project, completed over the course of two (yes I said TWO) hours on the phone with her is headed her way. Just to say 'Thank you -- crochet can't be learned via phone'. And, well, 'Julie is impossible to teach crochet, but at least the hook isn't sharp and she can't hurt herself, so here...take this crappy keychain as my way of saying thanks...'.

It's amazing how much a keychain can say, isn't it?

You Know It's Time for Bed When...

"Cool, Mom! It tastes like Lucky Charms!!" sounds like "Cool, Mom! It tastes like monkey crotch!!"

Oh great googly moogly, it's time to put the turkey to bed.

Finally taking more pictures

Thanks to Jitann over at TBW for posting about the 365 challenge. I've joined a group of mamas in taking a picture a day. Well, almost a picture a day. After all, this is me, and I do have artistic ADD and I'm prone to manic bouts of crafting. So, of course, this called for the creation of yet another blog. Ellamega's 365. Cause, a girl with ADD can never have too many blogs.

These were all taken with my macro, handheld, by the light of the Christmas Tree. They were all shot with an insanely high ISO, which results in some really grainy pictures. Now, if I could just unearth my tripod. But, then I'd have to stop crafting. LOL.

There's one crafty pic tucked in at the end. Just to prove I'm still playing with felt. I used this wonderful free tute from yoonie at home.

The lovely Barb from Birdie's Room has provided me with needle felting materials. I've been given permission to play with the barbed needles (no pun intended) but only when there's a responsible adult home with me. So, look for some fun crafty humor coming soon -- hopefully blood free, but I can't make any promises.

Another Felt Adventure

I finally got around to trying my hand at some hair clips for Lula. Of course, Julie D. had to model this first attempt for me, since Little Baldie wouldn't keep it in her hair. I really want to get my hands on some wool felt...this acrylic stuff is bringing me down, man.
